Dear Partner in Missions,
With the New Year comes a fresh start; or that’s the way we often think of it. We all like it when we have a second chance. Well, God is giving us one as He continues to open doors for new ministry.
There are many spiritually deprived places in the world where a missionary is needed to reach out with the Gospel. The problem is finding the Christian who is willing to go. I used to think that Christians were not being called to missions as before. Instead I’ve come to realize that God is still calling, but God’s people are not listening and not answering.
Missionary work will not bring in worldly wealth or public acclaim, but it will please the heart of God and provide satisfaction and adventure beyond anything you’ll find at Disneyland or Six Flags. Is there some risk involved? Yes, but you take risks everyday. Is there training needed? Yes, but nothing as difficult as rocket science. Could you make the grade? If God is calling you, I know that you have what it takes.
Our six-week training and orientation program is designed for those who have had Christian leadership experience or for those who have a one-year equivalent in Bible school education or an AA or bachelor’s degree. We want to get a missionary candidate ready and on his/her field of service without delay. Whatever your skills and preparation, God will use it in marvelous ways.
One of the “easiest” open doors for missions involves the English language. People overseas want to learn our language and if we’ll take advantage of that desire, we have an open door into their lives and hearts. There is always work for English speakers in the Orient, but we’re also seeing good response in Latin America. Thus Rick LaBouef’s request in Ecuador (see Rick’s Unusual Day) for someone to teach English even out in the unreached areas of the jungle. Any takers?!
Has God been speaking to you about missions? Do you sense a call to be a foreign missionary? Are you unable to go, but called to support missions financially? Whatever your circumstance and your state of affairs, why not make a fresh start in the New Year? The missionary door for you is unlocked and standing ajar; it is now your privilege to enter into God’s harvest. There’s work enough for everyone to do.
Reaching our world for Christ,

David Konold
President
P.S. The greatest satisfaction comes from doing what you know God is calling you to do. Once you’re in sync with God’s plans for your life, real living begins. If you sense God’s saying missions is for you why not respond today? |
