Why would a marine travel the almost 13,000 air miles from Okinawa, Japan, to attend a prayer meeting in a southern California park?

US Marine George Thornton did just that 50 years ago, in September 1957.

Bro. Thornton was a Marine with a heartbeat for missions. When this opportunity arose to help a group of missionaries form an international network, he took it— regardless of the distance.

That park meeting culminated in the formation of a worldwide mission agency, which you now know as Christians in Action!  And retired Master-Sergeant Thornton now serves as chairman of the board!

The global impact of that prayer meeting is vast and immeasurable.

We have reached and discipled thousands for Christ and prepared hundreds of pastors, teachers, evangelists, and missionaries, putting them into service.

Most of this work is now carried out by our national churches as missionaries go on to new places or to new ministries in their host countries.

In October, we celebrated God's goodness over the last 50 years with two banquets, an alumni and friends gathering, and our biennial international missionary conference, while looking forward to the new things God has begun to do.

Conference delegates and board members pray for Ingrid Bullock as they
commission her for missionary service in Sierra Leone.

One major change will be the relocation of international HQ to a larger city. At this time God is speaking to us about Fresno, California.

Byron (new board member) and Kelly Fox sponsored a luncheon to introduce us to pastors and other Christian leaders from Fresno.  Our new friends indicated that CinA would fit well in Fresno, and those leaders have formally invited CinA to move to their city. Pray that God will show us the way to open a promotional office in Fresno to explore all of the possibilities.

As we prepare the next generation for leadership by teaching the tried and true mechanics of missions, we also encourage them to experiment with new ones. We are heralding changes that will take the Gospel into this and future generations!

The foundation for the next 50 years is strong and secure, built on God's mandate, and we move into the future trusting Him for even greater works!
