Dear Partners in Missions,

This month Christians in Action celebrates 50 years of missionary ministry! On September 28, 1957, missionaries, Christian leaders and the Christian community gathered together in a Huntington Beach park to seek the Lord’s directions on how to fully implement their missionary vision. The Lord did direct; Christians in Action Missions International was formed. The accompanying picture was taken at that meeting.

Since those early days, CinA Missionaries have been reaching out with the Gospel message, winning souls for Christ and planting churches in remote places of the world. It is wonderful to be part of a movement that touches so many spiritually and physically destitute people around the world. What an honor it is that God has chosen to use and bless us for so many years.

Celebrations for our 50th will focus during our annual missions banquets to be held in Long Beach and Visalia, California. The Long Beach banquet will be held on Friday, September 28 and the Visalia banquet will on Thursday, October 4; see the ads in this newsletter for times and places. If you are anywhere near those locations on the dates indicated, make the effort to attend. We long to see you again and have your help in celebrating our Big Fifty. It wouldn’t be the same without you.

Our staff has prepared a beautiful, full color, 50th Anniversary Book with pictures new and old. I will have more to say about this book next month, but we should have a few copies by the time of the banquets for you to see. I would like for you to have your own personal copy. You will be able to order one. They will not be expensive.

As we consider the awesome task ahead of us, it seems daunting. Then I see a report, like the one in this newsletter from Peru, where real people who need Jesus are finding Him and I realize afresh that God is fulfilling everything He promised. Daunting or not, it’s wonderful to be part of the eternal answer rather than part of the troublesome problem.

The work continues on day after day, year after year, without let-up. We are privileged to know brave Christian warriors who, from a worldly perspective, fight against great odds and accomplish great exploits against the enemy. Missionaries are my heroes. They have given up the “good life,” as it is sometimes called, to hold forth the banner of Christ in less favorable living conditions far away. Maybe you’re a hero in the making. If so, I’d love to talk with you about joining Christians in Action and help you put your heroics into action!

Remembering 50 years of ministry,
