  Dear Partner in Missions,

Do you think of camping as something that people do in an RV? Or are you reminded of a dirt floor, no screens on the windows, cooking with wood or a gas burner, no running water, outhouse facilities, no lock on the door, pup tents--the way I remember camping as a Boy Scout?

However we think about it, our term “camping” doesn’t begin to describe the everyday plight of thousands of displaced people who live in the shantytown of Villa Hermosa, on the edge of Cartagena, Colombia, where CinA has a ministry.

On Monday, August 14, we opened our Villa Hermosa medical clinic facility. Monday morning the clinic received patients and on Monday afternoon we had our first decision for Christ. Praise the Lord! The Christians in Action team is now better equipped to impact deep-seated hopelessness with the love of Christ.

On the theme of equipping, last month in West Africa, CinA teachers (not the students) attended a summer-school to upgrade their teaching skills.

Civil war in Sierra Leone for ten years took a toll on community services. Schools there are struggling to accept the large number of school children in the country, so the CinA church schools are helping bridge the gap. As they bring a distinctly Christian emphasis to the classroom this fall, energized by their refresher classes, pray that the teachers will be effective in their teaching and bold in sharing their faith.

By giving priority to Jesus’ Great Commission, Christians in Action joins hands with you, our ministry partners, to fulfill a mission. We are grateful that you understand the urgency of the hour, whether it's to serve on the mission field or to give financially for the cause. In recent days, what has God specifically spoken to you concerning the role you're to play? Respond today; together we will make a difference in our hurting world.

The opening of the new clinic to serve Villa Hermosa in Colombia was cause for great celebration. Looking out from the clinic, a small part of the village it will serve can be seen in the distance. Byron Fox cuts the ribbon to declare the new clinic open. Patients immediately started coming for treatment. Each one is presented with the Gospel message and given an opportunity to receive Christ as their personal Savior.
