  Dear World Mission Go-Getter,

How do you determine God’s will? Among the many guidelines from scripture, what works best for you?

In my experience God uses the dynamic of open doors very often to guide and direct my personal path. I have found that true within Christians in Action, as well. Jesus told the Philadelphia Church (Revelation 3:8) that He had opened a door for them that no man can shut. An open door implies direction, purpose and forward movement. An open door is welcoming and friendly.

CinA’s Dr. Mercedes teaching a mother how to dress her son’s foot in Colombia, South America.

Our open doors over the past ten years have been in the area of medical missionary outreach. We have seen how effective this has been to reach people for Christ in Cambodia, Colombia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Philippines and now Pakistan. The door remains open to other areas as well. We are seeing that “bandaging people’s wounds” has become a way for “touching people’s hearts,” particularly in developing nations.
These acts of mercy are closely related to Jesus’ ministry of healing, so it is no wonder that people are receptive, even when the ministry to them is short-term. Medical ministry demands large investments of time, equipment, medicine and medical professionals; and the results are well worth the effort expended. The mercy and love given out in Jesus’ name becomes a solid platform for introducing the Gospel message into their lives.

Medical ministry was not a planned movement within Christians in Action. We simply stepped through the doors that God opened before us, one at a time. Now as we look back, we see the beautiful tapestry God was weaving into the fabric of this organization. Step by step our medical ministry began and has now become one of the principal ways that He is operating through us.

Moms like these would have no recourse for medical care for their babies if Dr. Mercedes had not committed herself to the work in squatter village of Villa Hermosa.

Thank you for your encouragement and support though this growing process. As you have provided medicines, finances and professional services, God has used you directly to impact lives for Jesus Christ, giving eternal hope where only despair and gloom existed before.

Will you continue to rally around us in this way? I seem to hear you say, “Well, of course I will!” Thank you, because we can’t do it without your help and the assistance of your friends and acquaintances. As we network together, the huge task of world evangelism becomes possible and dynamic as it proceeds along to God’s ordered end.

  Yours for completing the task,

  President

P.S. Thank you for your open door and your open heart. God has called you to a member of this and the role you play is vital. I look forward to your encouraging response.
