| Dear Partners in Ministry, | |||
As 2005 comes to a
close, we look back on a wonderful year of progress. Outreach teams from
North America went to places like Brazil, Cambodia, Colombia, Philippines
and Ghana. These teams led literally hundreds to Christ. Short-term is
catching on in other countries, too. CinA churches in Germany have been
sending short-termers to Pakistan and Afghanistan for several years. This
year was an epic trip as they landed in Pakistan only two days after the
devastating earthquake. It isn’t broadcast very often in the nightly news,
but many churches are being planted in those “hard-to-reach” areas of the
world. As I look at the overall work of Christians in Action, this phase at the turn of the millennium might be called our building phase. Church facilities, medical clinics, elementary schools and ministry training schools are rising out of the ground to provide the infrastructure we need for expanded ministry. These kinds of improvements amaze me because in past years projects like these would not have been possible. Faithful men and women on the field, both foreign missionaries and nationals, are now reaping the benefits of years of steadfast ministry. As we see solid growth on the mission field, the praise must go to the Lord and the thanks to those CinA pioneers who have gone before to break up the rough ground. While mission field projects are booming, things are different here at home. In the midst of growth and spiritual harvest overseas, the CinA headquarters is experiencing financial drought. In several emergency meetings with our HQ staff members, we have all agreed next year to a reduction of monthly allotments by 25%. In any language that epitomizes sacrificial commitment to the task. I am proud of our people for their dedication, but I’m also concerned. We are trusting God to make up the difference in other ways, but God also says that the workman is worthy of his hire. That admonition speaks not only to me, but to all of us. Would you join us in the sacrifice to help supply these needs? I try not
to mention this very often, but you need to know how we’re doing. CinA
depends on your generosity each month to stay up and running. To be more
specific, without some especially generous contribution our shortfall
averages $5,000 per month. We just can’t continue drawing on dwindling
reserves without serious consequences. If you could increase your donation
by $20 or $50 or more each month, it would make a wonderful difference.
Another good idea is to tell your friends and church about CinA. Our new
video presentation is perfect for doing that—just ask us for the

Children are being exposed to the Gospel message around the world. Here, amid destitute circumstances in the shantytown of Via Hermosa, Colombia, preschool children practice a skit for the benefit of visiting short-term misionaries. |
