  Dear Mission Partner,

My trip to the Orient in July brought back wonderful memories of Beth’s and my ministry together years ago in Asia. It also renewed my personal enthusiasm for what God is doing through our people. Seeing good ministry progress demonstrated again the significance of consistency and persistence in missions work.

Our Filipino team has grown. They are now spread out on various islands where needs tend to be greater than Metro-Manila and where evangelistic efforts of our short-term medical ministries have been so effective. The poverty in that country makes it more difficult for our pastors to be supported and for Edgar Ayuman, our national director, to oversee the ministries. This situation is not so different from other countries with similar economic conditions, but being an island nation with political instabilities, the Philippines has its own special challenges.

Glenn Kennedy, CinA Far East Area Director, arranged for the area conference to be held in the PI. We had delegates from S. Korea, Macau (South China) and from Japan. With our large Filipino team, we had 28 missionaries and workers gathered together to encourage one another. Besides reports and Bible teaching, we were able to appoint five new Filipino workers and ordain two pastors to the Gospel ministry. Pray for their spiritual strength, fruitful witness and well being.

Upon leaving the Philippines I stopped over in Macau, a small peninsula off the coast of China near Hong Kong. Physical needs there were not as evident as was the hustle and bustle of their lives. The high density population, their new investment in Las Vegas style casinos, the influence from communist China and their ties to ancient religions make evangelism more difficult. Even so, the CinA church has grown and one by one new converts are being discipled. John and Suzanna Hyrons have made wonderful relationships in the Christian community and have networked together with other missions to increase their effectiveness.

As CinA Missionaries continue to share the Gospel around the world, God continues to bless people who live far from our shores. Your prayers and financial giving are vital from month to month in keeping us reaching out. With your continued involvement, lives will continue to be touched with the message of Jesus’ salvation. Thank you for your faithfulness and loyalty to serving Christ.

  Sincerely for world evangelism,

  David W. Konold
