| On June 24, 2005, after failing health over the several weeks, our dear Board Member, Don Yeider, went home into the presence of His Savior. Don was 88 years old. | ||
| As a friend and colleague in ministry, Don filled a vital role on the CinA board with his business expertise and compassionate spiritual gifting. Our thoughts and prayers are with Darlyne as she endures this painful loss. | ||
| Don Yeider was born in Indiana and accepted Jesus as his Savior at age 12. Don’s formal education was completed in California, with a major in aircraft design and production. He was employed by Lockheed Aircraft during the World War II in the experimental department and upon end of war, was in charge of flight testing a reconnaissance bomber for the U. S. Air Force. Don left Lockheed to enter into partnership in a construction company, responsible for design, sales and financing. When his partner retired after seven years, Don became sole owner and incorporated in the name of Kooye Construction Co. The business flourished reaching a payroll of 250 employees, building medical facilities, shopping centers, apartments and single family dwellings. | ||
| In early 1970’s, Don felt God leading him to sell the company and devote his entire time and energy in Christian work. God had a buyer and the business was sold the first day. | ||
| Don Yeider had become friends with Daniel Rose, a Jewish believer several years earlier. Mr. Rose was head of the Jewish Department of the Church of the Open Door and Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA). Yeiders joined this church and met Dick and Darlyne Carlton. Through these contacts, the Yeiders felt God leading them into full-time Jewish evangelism. Don and Alyce Yeider opened their home for Jewish Bible studies. Before long the meetings outgrew their house and they bought a larger house. The work grew to 105 people attending. The Carltons and Yeiders incorporated the ministry naming it Los Angeles Messianic Witness. The work grew with radio, missionaries in Israel, home Bible meetings and “Shalom Fellowship” Sunday services. | ||
| After Don's wife Alyce and Darlyne's husband Dick both went to be with the Lord, God led Don and Darlyne together in a marriage which lasted for 10 years (until death did them part). They had continued to be vitally involved in ministry and in managing Carlton Insurance, the Torrance-based business started by Dick and Darlyne many years ago. Christians in Action has been privileged to have Don Yeider serve as a member of the board for the past 17 years. | ||
| In addition over the years, Don Yeider has served the Lord as: | ||
| Member of Board of Directors – Thru the Bible Radio Network | ||
| Chairman of Finance Committee and Investments of Thru the Bible Radio | ||
| Member of Board of Directors, Church of the Open Door, Los Angeles | ||
