| In the early days of their ministry in northern India, a CinA missionary couple founded a Christian grade school. This is the base from which they reach out to the community. Here they tell part of their story. For purposes of security and safety, we cannot share their names or where in the country they are ministering. Please keep them and those they are reaching for Christ in your prayers. | ||
"From time to
time we visit people in their homes, after a full day at school. Once or
twice a year we go to every home in the village, inviting them to the Sunday
night meetings. There are about five hundred homes with at least four in
each family."A local tribe, including many of their children who were affected by their parents' habits, were set free from soft drugs, tobacco, home made liquor, etc., after being taught in our school. At special school functions, which are attended by villagers, we often teach the children how to avoid these habits using skits done by the students themselves. The subject is also taught in our youth camp. We don't know how many people in the village hear the messages being preached, because many listen to them by means of our PA system! |

| "A Muslim girl, now teaching in our school, has accepted the Lord and was growing nicely until she was forced to learn Arabic in order to read the Qur'an before her marriage. She says that she reads the Bible and prays to Jesus and hopes to return to church once her language course is finished. [This is the kind of situation that our missionaries have to deal with when a religion and/or culture is so deeply embedded in a people.] | ||
| "A young ruffian accepted the Lord and is now faithfully coming to the Wednesday night Bible studies and always brings a new face with him each week. People have noticed a marked difference in his lifestyle as he no longer fights, smokes or meddles in others' fights. Recently he has had three deaths in his family—two brothers and a sister—and he also has been very ill with a fever. He and his mother are now looking after his late sister's two daughters. [A cultural situation arises here regarding marriage in that] this young man has an elderly mother and it is time for him to find a wife. Pray that the Lord will bring him a good Christian wife so that they may grow in the faith together. | ||
"Two complete
strangers came to our village asking about our school and the locals told
them that it was the best school in the area with education, discipline and
care for the children which other schools don't think about, let alone
provide. So we feel we've made a little dent in the surroundings here for
the glory of God.God is working in the vast country of India to reach millions of people one by one with the Gospel. Pray for this missionary couple who humbly talk about "making a dent" in their surroundings, but have diligently ministered and lived among the people for over 25 years and continue faithfully in bringing Christ's love to them. |
