  Celebrating the Senders

  Dear Friend of Missions,

Are you a sender? A missionary sender?

If you give to a missionary or to International Ministries, pray for a missionary, help train missionaries, offer hospitality to a missionary, or visit a missionary on his field, then by all means you can answer, "Yes"!

Senders care about the whole person. They know that a missionary needs training, finances for his ministry, sustenance, communication, and prayer, and when he comes home he also needs a listening ear, a place to stay ….

Thanks to senders we have been deploying CinA missionaries from the US since 1957! Over the years missionaries have been drawn to the harvest and have obeyed Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew 28:19). Their converts caught this same vision of worldwide evangelism…now they themselves raise up missionaries to proclaim the Gospel to yet other nations.

Missionary graduates from overseas join existing teams or pioneer new works:

  • Graduates from the UK pioneered the India, Macau and Sierra Leone ministries.
  • Momoko, from Japan, served in Brazil.
  • Adriana, from Honduras, serves in Guatemala.
  • Missionaries from Brazil and Colombia serve in Africa.
  • A missionary team from Brazil is preparing to open the Ukraine field in 2006.
  • Nationals lead the ministries in Colombia, Guatemala, Ghana, Japan, Sierra Leone, and the Philippines—training more nationals to evangelize remote, unreached areas in their own countries.

Jesse (right) is one of those nationals trained to evangelize an unreached area of his country, Sierra Leone in West Africa. After completing training in Freetown, he was sent to Daru, a predominantly Muslim town. Under the guidance of the national board and superintendent, Christian Kallon, Jesse has started a church. Fourteen converts were baptized in June!

So the "goers" are not all from North America, but North Americans still have the lion's share of sender resources. Christians in developing countries have limited means to reach the world even though they have the heart for it. They depend upon you to send them.

CinA senders are called to answer the need. Senders have an equal share in the ministries that are conducted by those who are sent. This principle was first established by David, "The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same…." 1 Samuel 30:24 NIV.

The apostle Paul explains it best, "And how can they preach except they are sent?" Rom. 10:15 NIV. Each time you send a gift to International Ministries or say a prayer for Christians in Action, you are a sender.

We thank God for your ministry with us! To hear more of how God is using you as a sender, ask for a copy of our new Action DVD! Live pictures take you in person to the center of the action. Become an even more effective sender by sharing it with your pastor, family and friends. Motivate them to become senders and goers as well!

Missionaries are crisscrossing the globe to take the message of Christ to lost millions. That is why we need you as a sender each month! I ask that you will share your best gift possible this month to keep the momentum going!

PS As a sender, your role is as important as that of the people who are sent. While we must all give special attention to the terrible catastrophe on the Gulf Coast, we still need to maintain the works already begun around the globe. Missionaries are out there taking the Word to the world. And thousands are being discipled for Christ! Thank you for being a Sender today!
