David |
You may remember in my last letter asking you to pray for David, who was given very little hope of survival by the doctors. Well, you wouldn't believe what happened! He was breathing only with a tube down his throat and was in an induced coma when, miraculously, he started improving and soon they took the tube out of his throat and before we knew it, he was well enough to get out of the hospital. It was almost Christmas and as he needed special care for awhile, we brought him home and Georgia and her fiancé, Cleber, took care of him for me. Cleber nursed his bedsores that were severe from being in bed for over a month. Georgia washed his clothes and bedding, cleaned up his area and fed him. On Christmas morning we had more than our family in our early morning opening of gifts than we usually do, David, Don Thomason, a fellow missionary, and Clebers' sister, Carol. It was a happy day and we all enjoyed a relaxed B-B-Q that we are doing on Christmas nowadays because the heat is just too much for a lot of kitchen cooking. Finally after some time, David recovered enough that he could start getting around on his own with his crutches and now he is staying down in the dorms and will be doing one month Bible course here at the mission that we offer in the summertime. After that he will go back to Canoas and get a place to stay and continue going to the church there. Keep praying for him that he will grow spiritually as well as get his full strength back in his arms. |

Rafael and Solange |
Solange was the cousin of Roseclare, who we took every week with us to Gravatai for youth group. That was several years ago. Solange started going with us too. We had a good ol' time on those long drives to Gravatai and Solange, who had accepted the Lord earlier, but had gotten mixed up in a cult, started to get things straighten out. Soon she was a solid believer and completed the Bible training. Well, around that same time a young man, Rafael, who was plagued by drug use, started coming to youth group as well. He received the Lord, but had some ups and downs as he struggled with the things that were drawing him away. I remember one time telling him I felt the Lord would one day use his life greatly. Finally after many struggles, he got stronger in the Lord. And he also completed the Bible training. After several years, Solange and Rafael got married. Before they got married, both felt a call to Albania and realized that the Lord was putting them together for that reason. For the last several months they have been raising their support and now the time has arrived. I have mixed emotions. I will miss them, but at the same time I am so happy to see what the Lord has done in their lives. We saw them off at the airport with singing, prayer and much crying. They are young and inexperienced, so please keep them in prayer as they take their first steps on the mission field. |

Kelly and Alex lost their baby in July with a miscarriage as you may remember, however at the end of conference, she made a happy announcement that she is once again expecting, so sometime towards the end of the year, we should be welcoming a new grandchild!!! |

Georgia and Cleber |
Georgia and Cleber are preparing for their wedding day to take place the first of May. They have been asked to stay here at headquarters for a few months to have time to adjust to married life before they take off for Angola, Africa. They will need monthly support, so if you are interested in helping them you can send to the address at the end of this letter and mark it clearly for Georgia and Cleber. |
Well, dear friends, that is all for now. We truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the financial support, moral support and prayer support that you send our way. We need you to have our back so we can do our work and we do appreciate it so much. |
