The ministry in Macau was pioneered in 1973 by CinA missionaries John and Sandra Levy, sent from our training center near London, England. John Hyrons joined the team in 1975. John was a U.S. serviceman stationed in Okinawa, Japan when he received his missionary call. Later Doug and Becky Sutherland (USA), Graham & Sue Dodd (Great Britain), Ray Connelly (USA) and Rita Cacazu (Japan & Brazil) joined the team. A church was planted with several Bible studies being conducted. Conversational English was taught as an evangelism tool. Other outreaches included street, literature and prison evangelism.

Macau-born Suzanna Ng was one of the Levy's original converts and English students. John Hyrons and Suzanna, wed in 1980, are currently the only CinA missionaries that remain there. Besides the church ministry, John and Suzanna operate a small day-care ministry for children of prisoners.

In December 1999 Macau officially returned to the Beijing, China government. This ended almost 450 years of Portuguese control and influence. In 1975 Macau officially became a territory of China under Portuguese administration.

Their ability to encourage and unify people has been a great asset in the building of this work.
