March 2006

  Dear Family and Friends,

Greetings from the great State of Texas! We are here visiting with family since our return from Africa in February. It is great spending a longer period of time with Elgin’s remaining two brothers and their families in Dallas, along with Dorothy’s Sister in Houston, her Mother in Waco, and Brother in San Antonio. They have all welcomed us with much warmth and are pleased that we could come and stay a short while, as we have lived and worked out of the country for almost 47 years.

Our trip to Ghana was busy but awesome! The ministry is growing and the people are encouraged to keep pressing toward a mark of excellence in Christ Jesus. Here are three photos from the trip!

  1. Above: Chiefs of Pennimese honoring Taylors for their ministry and drilling water wells in the region.
  2. Left:: Children with Dorothy & Team awaiting showing of Jesus Film
  3. Below: New leader Pastor Jacob Nangai exams water from a drying up well. (Note the polluted water!)

The last six months have been filled with changes, as the former leader left the ministry, and a new leader was chosen. Praise God for his “Ram in the bush”.

Jacob Nangai, age 30, who has worked with us from the founding of the ministry and was sent to Bible School through the ministry, is now heading up the work. Please cover him and his wife Beatrice and their two children with much prayer.

Please remember the entire Nangai family, for it is with great sadness that we report the death of Sadat Nangai (27), younger brother to Jacob and Vasco. He had served as youth director at two of our churches, Kumasi and Techiman, and will be greatly missed. He received the diagnosis of liver cancer the day we left Ghana. The doctors had stated that only a liver transplant would help, and those are not done often in Ghana.

Prayer is requested for the following projects:
  1. Two new water wells this year for the Brong Ahafo Region. Remember especially the village of Anyima, as no water was found there after two drillings. This is a farming region and they urgently need a lasting water source. A well now costs approx. $8, 000 US dollars, due to drilling through rock.

  2. Building of church in Anyima. Land was donated by the Village Chiefs and the footings were dug for the foundation. We will complete the project by the year’s end. The cost of building a small church is $10,000 US.

  3. School Sponsorships for Techiman youth. At least six hundred dollars per month is needed to meet the expenses of keeping this school operating out of the red! If we could get 6 - $100 or 12-$50 or 24-$25 monthly pledges, we would meet this goal.

  4. Continual Good Health for us! God has blessed us to travel and work in Africa for many years but our immune system is not as it once was! Dorothy has especially undergone several bouts of illness in Africa on our last two trips, not serious, but an indication of advancing of time.

Thanks once more for your prayer backing and support of our ministry in Ghana. You are a vital part of this outreach, and your involvement makes our going out there possible.

Yours for reaching Ghana for Christ,

Elgin & Dorothy
