| Germany a mission field? | ||
| When one thinks of missions, Germany probably doesn't come to mind as the typical country considered a mission field. Yet in light of the following statistics, Germany - as well as Europe as a whole - is indeed a very legitimate and needy mission field: | ||
| It is estimated that only about 2-4 % of Germans are evangelical believers, far below the percentage of believers in most African nations. | ||
| Many if not most German cities of up to 35,000 inhabitants are without a single evangelical church or gospel witness. | ||
| Church attendance averages around 5-6% in all of Germany on any given Sunday, although over 95% of the population is registered as either Lutheran or Catholic. | ||
| Many Germans are born and die within sight of magnificent cathedrals without ever hearing the simple message of the Gospel. | ||
| In the vacuum of materialism a growing desire for the esoteric and New Age experiences is sweeping across the nation. | ||
| CinANet Germany | ||
| The ministries of Christians in Action in Germany are organized into a network of interdependent churches calling themselves CinANet Germany. They have focused their vision for church planting in a mission statement; here an excerpt: | ||

||
| To this end CinANet Germany has established a team committed to develop, communicate and oversee implementation of goals and strategies aimed at fulfilling the church planting vision of Christians in Action in Germany. | ||
| CinA presently has ongoing church ministries in the cities of Hamburg, Muelheim, Wuerzburg, Schweinfurt and the Tauber Valley. In addition, other church plants are in progress or in the serious planning stage. At least two of our CinA German churches have sent out full time missionaries themselves, taking missions into the "second generation", as well as sending out church members on short term mission outreach. | ||

| Hamburg | ||
| In Hamburg over 40,000 West Africans are registered who live and work in this second largest city of Germany. CinA now has large and flourishing West African churches both in Duisburg and Muelheim (near Hamburg), with a second church plant in Hamburg in the planning stage. Many Germans visit these churches, fascinated by the lively singing and preaching style of African Christians in contrast to the often formal liturgy of the State Church. The Duisburg church pastor is Solomon Enofe and the pastor in Muelheim is John, both originally from Nigeria but now ordained as CinA ministers in Germany. | ||
| Muelheim | ||
| Similar to the church in Hamburg, in Faith Christian Church, the CinA church of Muelheim, Ghanaians and Nigerians from West Africa fellowship together in this unique church. | ||
| Würzburg | ||
| The first German church of Christians in Action was planted in Wuerzburg, Bavaria in the late 1970's, and is led by Terry Moeller, Area Director for CinA ministries in Europe, West Africa and India. The city of Würzburg is home to a large University founded in the early 1400's, and the seat of government for Lower Franconia. The skyline is dominated by the steeples of the many churches in this predominantly Catholic city. But under the surface, needs run deep; for example: Würzburg was recently noted as having one of the highest suicide rates in the country. In this city of approximately 150,000 there are 7 evangelical churches with a combined membership of under 1,500 - an example of how Germany, although highly developed is yet a very needy mission field! | ||

| Schweinfurt | ||
| The CinA church in the industrial city of Schweinfurt - known as the "Ball Bearing capital of the World" - was founded by CinA missionary Rocco Panepinto in the early 1980's, who had previously helped plant the first CinA church in Wuerzburg. In addition to evangelistic efforts in Schweinfurt, the church has a flourishing group of home meetings in the nearby town of Hassfurt, which looks to develop into a full-fledged local church in the coming months under German leadership trained by Rocco. The church has recently appointed a German pastor, releasing Rocco to start a new church work in the former communist east Germany. Due to over 40 years of communism, east Germany is characterized by widespread ignorance of spiritual things - yet also a growing hunger for them. A modern day mission field in the center of Europe! | ||
| Tauber Valley | ||
| Our newest CinA church in Germany was planted as a "daughter church" by the fellowship in Wuerzburg in 1997, and is led by Friedhelm and Hannelore Reuter, German believers trained under Terry Moeller in Wuerzburg. It is reaching out to an estimated 60,000 people living in small towns strung along the scenic Tauber Valley. In addition to our CinA church, only one other evangelical church is known of in the entire area - another example of how much Germany really is a mission field. | ||
